When Texas entrepreneur Raymond Nasher asked for a "roofless museum" for his extensive and priceless sculpture collection, his architects and consultants delivered a unique product – a building with cast-aluminum roof without any moving parts that admits daylight while shading the interior spaces from direct sun year-round. The Nasher Collection is comprised of more than 300 sculptures by 20th-century artists, including Joan Miro, Alexander Calder, Isamu Noguchi, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and numerous other artists. The actual museum is small, with only a few indoor galleries. The sculpture garden features 20 larger sculptures from the Nasher Collection, rotated periodically. The Center has a cafe and a bookshop. It is open Tuesday-Sunday 11 am – 5 pm, Thursday 11 am – 9 pm; closed Mondays, New Years Day, July 4, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
