Here’s your chance to take an interesting step back in time to a bygone era of luxury railway travel. Originally, the Museum of the American Railroad at Fair Park focused on the age of steam, but more recently, their offerings include other types of train travel. What makes this museum one of southwest United States’ finest are the over thirty pieces of historic railroad equipment including steam, diesel and electric locomotives, cabooses , historic structures, signals and assortment of small artifacts on display – offering a glimpse of several different eras side-by-side. A self-guided tour comes with a pamphlet which allows you to learn a bit about each train in the yard. The gift shop offers books, games, toys, and plenty of Thomas the Tank Engine material. Trains can also be rented for kids' or grown-ups' parties, even after hours.
