9 museums, 6performance facilities, a lagoon, and the largest Ferris wheel in North America! Welcome to Dallas Fair Park: a 227-acre recreational and educational complex located in Dallas Texas. Many of the buildings were originally constructed for the Texas Centennial Exposition in 1936 which saw crowds of over 6 million.
Most of the buildings built for the exposition still survive and Fair Park is recognized as a significant example of art deco architecture. Enter at Parry St. the original Lone Star pylon (without the ticket booths); to the left is the old administrative building, now restored amicably as the Women's Museum. To the right is the old General Motors pavilion, now a theater. Once inside you’ll wish you had more time on hand!
